KATSEYE has been having one of those years where almost everything the group does ends up becoming a talking point online. From viral songs and major performances to their new WILD era, the group has quickly moved far beyond the usual K-pop audience.
And two names that continue to attract particular attention are Megan Skiendiel and Yoonchae Jeung.
Both are among the younger members of KATSEYE, but they come from very different backgrounds. Megan is American, with roots in Hawaii, while Yoonchae is South Korean. Together with Daniela Avanzini, Lara Raj, Sophia Laforteza and Manon Bannerman, they were brought together through HYBE and Geffen Records’ The Debut: Dream Academy.
Now, as KATSEYE prepares for its WILD WORLD TOUR, interest in both singers has grown even more.
Who Is Megan Skiendiel?
Megan Skiendiel is a 20-year-old member of KATSEYE who was born and raised in Hawaii.
She already had experience in dance before entering Dream Academy, which made her performance skills stand out during the competition. But what fans have increasingly connected with is her personality away from the stage.
In recent interviews, Megan has spoken openly about her mental health and about sometimes worrying that she is “too much” for other people.
She explained that the other KATSEYE members have helped her feel comfortable being herself. That friendship has become an important part of how she talks about her experience in the group.
It is an interesting contrast. On stage, Megan has developed a reputation for being energetic and confident, while behind the scenes she has admitted that confidence has not always come naturally.
Why Is Megan Trending Right Now?
Megan has been back in the headlines after suffering an ankle injury during KATSEYE’s tour rehearsals.
The injury forced the group to withdraw from Olivia Rodrigo’s Daisy Chain Fields festival in August after doctors advised Megan to rest. The decision was particularly disappointing because KATSEYE had been scheduled to perform at a festival built around female artists and community.
Megan later expressed how heartbroken she was about missing the performance.
The timing matters because KATSEYE’s WILD WORLD TOUR is scheduled to begin on September 1. So naturally, fans have been watching closely to see how the injury affects the group’s upcoming plans.
There has also been plenty of online speculation about KATSEYE’s members recently. However, Megan has not been confirmed to be leaving the group, despite viral social media claims suggesting otherwise.
Who Is Yoonchae Jeung?
Yoonchae Jeung is the youngest member of KATSEYE and the group’s South Korean representative.
Born in South Korea, Yoonchae was 18 when she was profiled alongside the other members by Vogue Taiwan. Her age and background have made her one of the members who particularly connects with younger fans around the world.
Unlike Megan, whose background is rooted in American culture and Hawaii, Yoonchae brings a distinctly Korean perspective to a group that was deliberately designed to be international.
That mix is basically the entire point of KATSEYE.
The group uses the highly structured training style associated with K-pop, but its music, members and audience are intentionally global.
Megan and Yoonchae Are Part of a Bigger KATSEYE Story
KATSEYE’s rise has been remarkably quick.
The group was created through The Debut: Dream Academy, a 2023 competition involving HYBE and Geffen Records. The project eventually became the Netflix documentary Pop Star Academy: KATSEYE, giving viewers a behind-the-scenes look at how the members were trained and selected.
Since then, KATSEYE has moved into much bigger territory.
The group performed at Coachella 2026, where Megan and Yoonchae joined Daniela, Lara and Sophia for a high-profile set that also featured the voices behind Netflix’s KPop Demon Hunters.
Their music has also become a major part of their online success. Songs such as “Touch,” “Gnarly” and “Gabriela” helped turn KATSEYE into one of the most recognizable new global girl groups.
Their latest WILD era has pushed that momentum even further, with the group releasing new music while preparing for an international tour.
KATSEYE Is Going Through a Challenging Moment
The attention around Megan and Yoonchae also comes at a complicated time for the group.
Manon Bannerman has been on hiatus since February, while Sophia Laforteza stepped back from activities in August to focus on her mental health. As of the latest reports, Sophia will not take part in the European leg of the WILD WORLD TOUR.
That leaves Megan, Yoonchae, Daniela and Lara carrying much of the current promotional workload.
Megan’s ankle injury adds another layer of uncertainty, although there has been no announcement that she is leaving the group.
And that is probably why fans are paying so much attention to both Megan and Yoonchae right now. They are not simply two young singers inside a successful group anymore. They have become recognizable personalities in their own right, while KATSEYE continues trying to figure out what its next chapter looks like.
For Megan, the immediate focus is recovery.
For Yoonchae, it is another major step into a global spotlight that is getting bigger almost every month.
And with KATSEYE’s world tour about to begin, both members are likely to remain very much in the conversation.
