The social media star, whose real name is Grace Keeling, revealed that she was raped when she was 17 during a work experience placement. Now 27, she said she hopes speaking about what happened can help other people who have experienced sexual violence feel less alone.

According to Keeling’s account, the incident happened during her second year of college when she was completing work experience with an older male boss.
She said there was already a clear imbalance of power between them. During a journey to work, she recalled feeling uncomfortable as he touched her leg, but she did not feel able to tell him to stop.
Keeling has described being frightened and unsure of how to react at the time. She was only 17 and felt that resisting could make the situation worse.
That detail is particularly difficult to read because it shows how differently someone can process a traumatic situation when they are young and feel trapped.
She Kept It Secret for Around a Year
Perhaps the most emotional part of Keeling’s revelation is how long she carried the experience by herself.
She said she spent roughly a year without telling anyone because she was scared. Eventually, she learned that another girl was going to complete work experience at the same place.
That became the moment when she decided she could no longer remain silent.
She told a teacher, and the matter was reported to police. Her mother was also informed and, according to reports, was shocked and devastated by what her daughter had gone through.
However, Keeling said the case did not move forward because of a lack of evidence.

Keeling has explained that she did not suddenly decide to tell her story because she wanted attention.

She has also been speaking with Rape Crisis, an organisation that provides support and advice to people affected by sexual violence.
That support is something Keeling wishes she had known about when she was 17.

Keeling’s experience is being discussed alongside the release of her upcoming book, It’s Giving Life: A Guide to Surviving and Thriving.
The book goes beyond her internet career and explores more personal parts of her life, including her experiences with mental health, body image and coming out. Her account of the assault is included in one of its chapters.
It gives fans a much more serious look at the person behind the loud and often chaotic online personality.
GK Barry Has Come a Long Way Since TikTok
Keeling first became widely known during the COVID-19 lockdown after posting humorous videos on TikTok.
Her popularity eventually led to the Saving Grace podcast, television appearances and a place on ITV’s Loose Women. She also appeared on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! in 2024.
That career has been built largely around her willingness to talk openly about awkward, personal and sometimes embarrassing parts of life.
