Ariana Grande has once again made it clear that she does not want her music connected to Donald Trump or his political messaging. This time, the singer directly responded after the official Team Trump TikTok account used her 2024 hit We Can’t Be Friends (Wait for Your Love) in a video that quickly went viral.
Her reaction was short, but there was nothing unclear about it.
“Never use my music again,” Grande wrote, before adding, “Also, your truth is false.”
The comment soon disappeared from the post, but screenshots had already started spreading across social media. And honestly, that made the situation even bigger because people were now discussing both the original video and Ariana’s response to it.
What Was in the Team Trump TikTok?
The TikTok used We Can’t Be Friends while showing Trump walking toward a podium at a rally. The post referenced the song’s lyrics with the text, “Me and my truth we sit in silence,” before displaying a message about transgender people and participation in women’s sports.
The caption said, “This shouldn’t be controversial!” and included hashtags related to Trump, Ariana Grande and MAGA.
That is where Ariana stepped in.
She publicly rejected both the use of her music and the message being attached to it. Her response, “Never use my music again. Also, your truth is false,” immediately began circulating online and turned what may have been a routine political social media post into a major celebrity news story.
One interesting thing here is that Ariana did not post a long statement or release an official press note. She simply went straight into the comments. Sometimes that works even better. There is no guessing about what she meant.
This Is Not the First Time Ariana Grande Has Called Them Out
What makes this story more significant is that this is already the second major clash involving Ariana’s music and the Trump administration in 2026.
Back in June, the White House used another song from her Eternal Sunshine era, Bye, in a TikTok connected to immigration enforcement. The clip showed arrests and detentions involving immigration authorities.
Grande strongly objected at the time, telling the account not to use her music in connection with what she described as “barbaric” and “inhumane” content. The audio was later removed or became unavailable on the post.
So this latest incident does not feel like a random one-off reaction.
Ariana had already made her position known months earlier. That is probably why her new “Never use my music again” comment attracted so much attention. Fans immediately remembered the June controversy and saw this as Ariana repeating a boundary she believed had already been made clear.
Why Ariana Grande’s Response Is Going Viral
The story has taken off because it brings together three things that always create huge online conversation: Ariana Grande, Donald Trump and a viral TikTok.
But there is another reason.
Ariana’s song was used alongside a political message that she clearly does not agree with. Her reply did not just ask for the track to be removed. By saying “your truth is false,” she also directly pushed back against the message in the video.
The comment later disappearing only added another layer to the conversation. Screenshots continued circulating, while reports indicated the sound eventually became unavailable on the TikTok post.
That means the actual social media moment may have been brief, but the reaction to it is likely to last much longer.
Ariana Is Part of a Bigger Fight Over Political Use of Music
Ariana Grande is far from the only artist to object when politicians or political organizations use music in ways the artist does not support.
Over the years, numerous major musicians have publicly criticized politicians for using their songs at rallies, in campaign material or on social media. The argument often goes beyond copyright. For artists, there is also the issue of association.
A song can suddenly appear to support a political message simply because it is playing behind a video.
And Ariana’s reaction shows she is not willing to let that association go unanswered.
For now, there has been no sign that she plans to say anything more publicly about the latest TikTok. But after two separate disputes over her music being used in Trump-related social media posts within just a few months, one thing seems pretty clear.
Ariana Grande does not want her songs used to promote messaging she does not support — and this time, she said it in the simplest possible way: Never use my music again.
